It's been nearly a year since we started enjoying happy hours in Chicago, and boy have we taken advantage of them. Instead of spending your hard earned cash on expensive cocktails, we've dug up some of this week's best happy hour specials that are sure to save you some money.
Sunday–Thursday: Night owls, we found one for you. Roots Handmade Pizza (both locations) has a happy hour from 8:30–10pm featuring $3 Midwestern craft beers (yes, you heard that correctly) and $5 appetizers like the garlic monkey bites and fried ravioli. Beer selections include Roots house brew, PILS, Bottom Up Wit, Daisy Cutter and Crooked Tree IPA.
Monday–Friday: If raw bars are your thing, head to Hubbard Inn from 4–7pm for $2 shrimp cocktail, scallop crudo, King crab leg and $1 clams and oysters. There's also a build your own sangria bar where you can pick your wine and add up to four kinds of fruit for $40. Plus, if you happen to imbibe more than one pitcher, all additional pitchers cost $25.
Tuesday: From 5–8pm, Headquarters Beercade in River North is hosting "Where the Sidewalk Ends & the Drinking Begins!" with $5 cocktails and appetizers.
Tuesday–Friday: Seafood is certainly a winner for happy hour, so head to Smack Shack from 3–6pm for half-off 16-ounce rotating taps, $10 Hurricanes (if you're searching for a wild night), $1 oysters and $8 lobster poutine.
Saturday & Sunday: A pet-friendly happy hour is just the thing for Fido's friends. At Nellcôte, the "Bone Appetit!" happy hour from 3–5pm includes signature pizzas, salads, light bites and a $6 drink menu. There will also be a little something from Kriser's Natural Pet for the dogs—like coupons and dog bowls—to reward your pup for all of its patience while you booze on the patio.
