We’ll admit that we were briefly fooled into thinking that this old-school lodge truly was old-school. But once we got past the log-cabinish exterior and saw Niman Ranch ribs on the menu, it became obvious it was a Lettuce Entertain You spot. Nevertheless, it seems to have gotten some parts of a Wisconsin lodge experience right (for one thing, bacon cheeseburgers are listed as “light dinners”). The signature tomato soup is creamy and sweet, and crusted whitefish is flaky and buttery. We wouldn’t recommend the flatbreads, but we do suggest sticking around for dessert—the creamy ice cream and sundaes are some of the best outside of the Dairy State.
