The results are in! More than 20,000 Time Out Chicago readers voted for their favorite rum cocktail from the 37 bars participating in the Captain Morgan Flavors Bartender Contest, and the top 8 competed on Tuesday night at Oak Street Beach. Bartenders whipped up their drinks, made using Captain Morgan Flavors, and more than 100 attendees sampled the cocktails and snacked on a beachside cookout.
Time Out Chicago deputy editor Laura Rote and Diageo On Premise Manager James Feeley—with some help from Captain Morgan himself—judged the cocktails, and the top three winners are: Jose Mendoza from Café D'Noche, with Passion D'Noche (Captain Morgan Pineapple with guava puree, pineapple juice, simple syrup and lime juice); Jose Rosas from Don Pedro with Captain Coco Coloda (Captain Morgan Coconut and Captain Morgan Pineapple with cream of coconut, vanilla ice cream, vanilla extract and pineapple juice); and Tommy Lansaw from Wood with Rosemary's Baby (Captain Morgan Grapefruit with ruby red grapefruit juice, rosemary honey, Aperol and lemon juice).
