Take a deep dive into the work of Lorna Simpson—the contemporary photographer and multimedia artist whose photographs explore the nexus of gender, race and identity, among other topics—in this virtual talk hosted by the Art Institute and the University of Chicago's Smart Museum of Art. Over the course of 45 minutes, Art Institute educator Sam Ramos and Smart Museum curatorial and academic engagement intern Aneesah Ettress will discuss Simpson's practice of combining large-scale photographs with text, parsing how the two forms work together in dialogue.
