For the most part, we think of chairs as a place to sit back and relax, but there's no denying that there's an art to the perfect seat. "The Art of Seating" surveys the evolution of the objects we sit down on, presenting a collection of 37 chairs, some of which date back to 1810. The changes in form mirror the technological advancements of the time, moving from the simple handcrafted rocking chair to a modern seat made from undulating strips of bright blue plastic. Each piece is placed in a room of the 1883 mansion that houses the Driehaus Museum—hopefully the juxtaposition of sculptural Italian chairs and late 19th-century decor won't be too jarring.
