"Little Lower Layer"

The MCA digs through its permanent collection to present an exhibition that looks just below the surface, assembling a group of works dating back to the ’70s that expose deeper meanings. The exhibit's title is interpreted both literally—in the case of Jack Whitten’s scratched painted canvases—and figuratively, through Simon Starling’s photographs of his travels and exploration.
