The stereotypical description of India speaks of its vibrant panoply of colors. The crisp gelatin photography of Singh challenges such trite preconceptions in stark black and white imagery. The 53-year-old photographer sees herself as a bookmaker, however, as she assembles her images into bound tomes, considering the syntax and story of their order. For exhibits, she displays her pictures on large wooden structures.
