With service and treatments on par with the big players in town but at about half the price, Makkha Spa is a real hidden gem, hidden in a few locations deep within the old city walls.
The Ancient House branch is set in a charming, sixty-year-old teak wood house, with treatments that reflect the history and luxury of the destination. Just around the corner, the Colonial Gardens branch is more modern – a newly built spa taking inspiration from the strong architectural influences of the colonial era. Walk in and be enveloped by soaring ceilings, cool marble tiles, glass panellings, cascades of sunlight and a turquoise blue pool next to a floor-to-ceiling living green wall.
The two other locations, Night Bazaar and Rachadamnoen, are more tourist-focused, catching passers by on their exploration of markets – perfect for when your feet are sore and you need a moment’s peace.
Whichever one you go for, Makkha Health & Spa is ideal for those wanting a luxurious yet reasonably priced experience. Their signature Thai oil massage is a great option for those who prefer a mix of relaxation and therapeutic pressure, while half day packages will see you making the best use of your time.
