With restaurants and shops, One Market is Cascais' new green square. Integrated into the luxury development One Living, a project designed by architect Francisco Valsassina, it aims to be a new meeting point in the village — where you can have lunch or dinner indoors or on a terrace, but also do some shopping and relax with family or friends.

The official opening took place on April 13, but the space remains in soft-opening, with some of the restaurants still finalizing preparations to fully open in the coming weeks. The goal is for One Market to also host regular events — such as markets or concerts — that energize the space. The square will also have a playground and a series of dividers with flower beds, about to be installed, and there are two vacant commercial spaces that will also open very soon.

One Market: what you can eat (and buy) in Cascais' new green square

It's the most anticipated restaurant at One Market. Known for its pastas and pizzas, this Italian restaurant, which already existed in Avenidas Novas and Alvalade, arrives in Cascais for the first time. It's an extension of the group's expansion in the region, which had already opened Madrasta in Paço de Arcos and Margarida in Carnaxide. The new Pasta Non Basta is only expected to open in the second half of May and has around 100 seats, both indoors and on the terrace.

The menu will be exactly the same as in Lisbon, but when it opens, it is expected to immediately introduce the seasonal novelties that Pasta Non Basta brings every summer. "We've been wanting to come to Cascais," explains Frederico Seixas, one of the partners in the group, to Time Out. "It's a market that has a gap where a brand like ours can fit very well. We are a family and friends restaurant, with many regular customers and we like to be in residential areas. This one also fits into that philosophy".

With a Spanish accent, and in front of a place called Boutique del Jamón, it's easy to be misled. But no: Avelino Correia de Sousa Ascensão is a Madeiran who spent much of his life in Venezuela, hence the pronunciation. Responsible for the restaurant Solar dos Bicos in the Campo das Cebolas area, he had already planned to open a project in Cascais mainly dedicated to Portuguese, Spanish and Italian sausages and cheeses. It's the Mediterranean trilogy on which the whole concept is based. After several failed attempts, he finally settled in One Market.

It's already up and running, but with a menu still to be finalized. One thing is for sure: they will serve dishes such as pork leg, bacalhau espiritual, octopus, Spanish tortilla, lime risotto with prawns, or starters like broken eggs with fried potatoes and ham, or garlic prawns. At the moment, they also focus on extensive platters, filled with cheeses, sausages, or dried fruits; and an extensive selection of Portuguese wines. "I'm very patriotic about that," admits Avelino.

They will also make their own bread there and are preparing to sell cheese and sausage boards for customers to take home, vacuum-sealed, so that nothing is lost. The person in charge of Boutique del Jamón also mentions that they plan to open a similar space soon in the center of Cascais village — and that they will have a Palacio del Jamón in Lisbon, located in a condominium in Benfica.

It was in August 2022 that Brazilian Lis Sadalla made herself known to Linha with Da Lis com Amor, a confectionery shop in Alcabideche. Since November 2023, there has been a new brand space at One Market Cascais, in the luxury development One Living (built on the land of the old Praça de Touros). While the Alcabideche space mainly sells sweets, in Cascais they wanted to increase the range of savory snacks, from cheese bread to toast, including tapioca.

Here you can try pancakes with various toppings (between €5 and €7.20), chicken drumsticks (€2.50), cheese bread waffles (€5.50), cookies of various flavors (€3.90 ), banoffee (€4.80) and chocolate or coconut brigadeiro (€4.80). There is also no shortage of cakes by the slice, a series of sweets in a jar, bowls, Brazilian couscous, tapioquinhas and toasted bread on the grill. Lis suggests the toast with shredded meat (€7.20), one of the house specialties.

About to open, Butler Gastrobar is a place that aims to be "fun," "casual," and bring together "good food, good cocktails, good conversation, and good music," as described to Time Out by the space's manager, another Madeiran, Daniel Andrade. With extensive experience in five-star hotels and being responsible for other venues — Onofre at Vila Bicuda, Churrasqueira do Viveiro in Estoril and Cacau Gastrobar in Lisbon — the idea at Butler was to create a menu of shareable dishes.

Delta Espresso already had spaces in some shopping centers, but this is the brand's first street store. This means they have an expanded menu of food tailored for this space, managed by Juan Matias. The idea was to have a reference Portuguese coffeehouse, offering the same Delta specialties found in other stores — a smoked salmon bagel (8,50€), a brioche with brie cheese and smoked turkey (7,50€), a toast with seafood delights (6,80€), a salad with roasted vegetables (9,50€), a couscous, apple, and goat cheese salad (9€), an avocado toast with scrambled eggs (7€) or a banana bread (3,50€).

Also, try the oatmeal pancakes (5,50€) or the açaí bowl (5,50€), among other toasts, croissants or brownies. They also have a special monthly drink — for example, in April, they served the Yuanyang (2,50€), a refreshing drink from Hong Kong that combines coffee, black tea and condensed milk. The idea is that this Delta Espresso at One Market can serve as a test model for other future street stores of the brand.

The space that will probably take the longest to open is One Sushi, which belongs to the owners of Tamagoshi, a Japanese restaurant in Parede. No details are yet known about this project, but the focus is undoubtedly on the Japanese art of sushi.
