Horse racing began in 1924. Harness races started in the 1950s and show-jumping 10 years later. In 1989, the indoor arena and café-restaurant were opened. Meanwhile, under the leadership of the family’s third generation, the work goes on to make it one of the most important horse-riding centres in Portugal. It has a number of riding schools in the Sintra-Cascais Nature Park, like that of Rui Barroso, who organises rides (€50 an hour) on his farm or along the hillside trails, where you can enjoy fabulous views of Guincho Beach.
