There are plenty of ideas for celebrating Santo António in Cascais, but the street parties, dances, festivities, processions and marches are not just about fun. Behind the bunting and fairy lights, music and sardines, there is a lot of logistics involved. The Cascais City Council has announced that the festivities will involve some traffic disruptions, so locals and visitors are informed and can avoid them if they wish.

For example, the Tires Festivities, taking place from the 7th to the 16th of June, will cause road closures on various streets until the 18th of June, specifically on Avenida Padre Agostinho Pereira da Silva, Praça Fernando Lopes Graça and Rua Domingos dos Mártires, between Praça Fernando Lopes Graça and the junction with Rua Manuel Vieira Rosa. On some days the closures are partial, but from the 7th to the 16th of June, there will be full closures between 15.00 and 01.30. Pedestrian corridors, access for emergency vehicles and private property access will be ensured.

The Popular Marches, taking place on the 8th of June, will parade from the bay to the Hipódromo Manuel Possolo – where the Santo António Festival will be held until the 13th – thus cutting off traffic between the Filipe Nobre de Figueiredo Roundabout (near Jardim Visconde da Luz) and the João Paulo Segundo Roundabout (in front of the Cascais Cultural Centre) between 17.00 and 20.00. On this day, there will also be parking reservations on Avenida D. Carlos I, Avenida da República (in front of Parque Marechal Carmona, Casa das Histórias Paula Rego and Hotel Eurostar), and Alameda dos Combatentes da Grande Guerra (side of Hotel Baía).

The Santo António Procession, scheduled for the 13th, will affect the entire Bay area between 14.30 and 18.00, specifically between the João Paulo II Roundabout and the Filipe Nobre de Figueiredo Roundabout. Parking around the Matriz Church, on Rua João Luís de Moura, Travessa Visconde da Luz and Avenida D. Carlos, between its intersection with Rua Luís Xavier Palmeirim and the João Paulo II Roundabout, will not be possible.
