The Quinta da Carreira Urban Park in São João do Estoril continues to be refurbished by the Cascais Municipal Council. On Monday, June 10th, the focus was on the well and the windmill, which will now serve as cultural facilities for the municipality. Inside, visitors can explore the history of Quinta da Carreira over the centuries.
The space has been completely rehabilitated, and the well is the oldest building on record there, dating back to at least 1778 in cartography. The well was traditionally used until 1930 when it was replaced by an American-style windmill, installed next to the circular building that already covered the well at that time.

"The inauguration of this cultural facility marks the completion of the second phase of this major restoration project at Quinta da Carreira," stated Nuno Piteira Lopes, vice-president of the municipality, in a press release. The Cascais Municipal Council further announces that the upcoming third phase, set to commence soon, will include the Scout headquarters, a cafeteria, and public restrooms.
