The largest Honest Greens in the country is already open and is right in the centre of Cascais

Housed in an iconic building next to the train station, this spot sticks to its signature menu: a focus on food that’s as healthy as it is delicious.

Honest Greens has landed in Cascais, and it’s no small affair: the brand has opened its largest restaurant in Portugal right in the heart of town, next to the train station. The grand opening took place just a few days ago, marking the group’s first location outside Lisbon and Porto.

Spanning over 540 square metres across two spacious floors, the new Honest Greens is housed in a historic building originally built as a family home. Over the years, it has served various purposes, including hosting municipal services. Recently made available for lease, it was the restaurant brand that ultimately secured the space.

The idea is to stay true to the Spanish-origin concept that has been a hit since arriving in Portugal in 2020. The menu remains the same, with a strong focus on healthy food without ever compromising on flavour. For now, the Autumn menu is still available, but it will soon be replaced by the Winter selection, which promises to bring some exciting new additions.

The menu continues to be dominated by meat, fish, and vegetable dishes, as well as bowls that can be paired with various sides and customised with a choice of extra proteins. Desserts remain free from sugar, lactose, and gluten, while specialty coffee and fruit- and vegetable-infused waters offer unlimited refills. Honest Greens stays true to its philosophy of working with local producers and keeping prices affordable.

To transform the space into a restaurant that aligns with the brand’s identity, some renovations were made to the building. The result is an Honest Greens with multiple areas, both indoors and outdoors, featuring terraces and patios, and a total capacity to accommodate 283 guests.

“A number of factors came together here”, explains Tiago Veiga, the marketing and communications director at Plateform, the company behind the brand. “We were eager to expand beyond Lisbon and had been considering this entire area for some time, particularly Cascais. The lifestyle of the people who live in and visit Cascais is interesting and aligned with what Honest Greens represents”.

At the same time, he explains, many customers from Cascais were visiting the Lisbon restaurants and “leaving comments and sending messages asking, ‘When are you coming to Cascais?’ That made us take the idea seriously, and we started looking for a location. This building became available, and from that point, it had to happen. It’s incredibly central, right next to the station, and situated in a vibrant spot with both local and tourist life. Plus, there wasn’t a similar offering in the area. Occupying an iconic building, originally designed as a home, also allowed us to envision what an Honest Greens in a house could look like—it’s a natural extension of our environment”.
