If excuses were needed for a brunch, Spring would be just the right one. And it's with the promise of the new season that the Cascais Sheraton brunch returns in all its glory. With plentiful tables and options hot and cold, sweet and savoury, you don't need excuses, just time and appetite. We went for the debut and came back to tell the tale.
Every Sunday is good for brunching
And there's no shortage of celebrations that allow for themed brunches. We scouted the territory – or should we say tested the waters? – at the Women's Day brunch, and the occasion painted the sweets pink and even provided a little treat at the end. But let's start at the beginning: two friends with a free Sunday and plenty of catching up to do. The protagonists could have led to many adventures: he, a vegetarian; she, known for her peculiar gastronomic taste. But spoiler alert – both left giving top marks.
It's not a cliché: the difficult part is choosing
It's a brunch, but it takes on the role of Sunday lunch, with starters, main courses, and desserts. We start with the typical savories to get the conversation going: croquettes, rissoles, onion rings, and breaded shrimp filled the first plate. Salads – with a highlight of yellow rice, shrimp, sautéed peppers, and quinoa, pumpkin, and cherry tomato – accompanied a second round with chicken wings with barbecue and lime sauce, vegetarian wraps, and breaded shrimp with spicy mayonnaise.
Three's a charm. Already full but still eager to taste more, we headed to the hot dishes station, and from the self-proclaimed non-vegetarian came the highlight: the Women's Day show cooking brought an imposing turkey, cut without mercy but with plenty of flavour. Approved!
Sweeten and toast, don't forget to combine
If the world were divided between those who prefer sweets and those who prefer savoury, this table would be 50-50. But in a world where we don't need to choose, we'll take both. With the mimosas calling for another toast, we jump from the meal to dessert and surrender to the pastry selection, where almond tarts, red velvet cake, custard tarts... We also indulged in the crepe station and finished with the best chocolate chip cookie and some gummies. If we didn't bring children, we had to be the ones to taste.
A brunch with much more to offer
At the Sheraton Cascais Market Brunch, it's not just the gastronomy that catches the eye. The care and precision at every moment by the team, the balloon sculptor distracting the children (and giving parents a break), the careful and relaxed atmosphere, and the view that puts us in touch with nature – even on rainy days – only served to enhance the experience. With Women's Day celebrated, we're already eyeing the next weekend and the next brunch. The upcoming special dates are Father's Day, Easter, and Mother's Day. But, truthfully, every Sunday is a good excuse for brunching.
