Get ready for Sacode Poeira, a vibrant weekend of “encounter, music and camaraderie” celebrating artists from the PALOP (Portuguese-speaking African countries) community who reside in or frequently visit Portugal. Taking place at the Sociedade Musical União Paredense (SMUP) in Parede, the event runs from May 9th to 11th.
Curated by the promoter Filho Único, the programme includes performances by Silvino Branca, Pedrinha Xalé, Jorge Rosa & Kambanda, Maria Alice, Mindelo, Ninho Anguené and friends, Djonsaba Kanouté, and Bulauê Relikia.
There will also be a discussion with Chalo Correia, Alcides Nascimento and Ana José Charrua, moderated by Nael Nascimento; and a screening of the iconic French film La Haine (1995), chosen by Luso-Angolan filmmaker Kiluanje Liberdade.
Sacode Poeira will also feature the launch of a fanzine, plenty of socialising with food and drinks, and a cassette release with music from the featured artists, recorded at Estúdios Namouche in Lisbon especially for this event.
Tickets are on sale for €5, with SMUP members paying only €4.
