Between 29th June and 14th July, Quinta do Pisão will host Paisagens Partilhadas, a project created by Swiss director Stefan Kaegi and curator Caroline Barneaud. The artistic projects, which include musical sculptures, theatrical interventions and a virtual reality experience, aim to engage in dialogue with the surrounding nature.
To celebrate the end of Culturgest’s season, this project invites the public to discover seven works by ten European artists. Instead of taking place in a performance hall, it is held outdoors, specifically in the forest of Quinta da Pisão, in the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. It takes place on Saturdays and Sundays, from 3.00 PM to 11.00 PM.
Portuguese artists and choreographers Sofia Dias and Vítor Roriz present a sound piece in the form of an audio tour that guides various groups of participants through the forest. Their work focuses on textual elements and the voice as a natural instrument, exploring the interaction between sound, language and movement. Italians Chiara Bersani and Marco D'Agostin explore the concept of the political body in a piece featuring actress Inês Cóias, while the Spanish collective El Conde de Torrefiel stages a performance that leads the audience to collectively read in order to understand, deconstruct and reinterpret the landscape.
French director Émilie Rousset gathers the words of nature experts, such as defence agents and bioacousticians, which artists and a machine re-enact, in order to explore the connections between science, technology, economy and landscape. Turkish-Belgian artist Begüm Erciyas and German director Daniel Kötter also use technology and different media to create intimate and hybrid worlds. American artist Ari Benjamin Meyers, based in Berlin, writes and orchestrates compositions that carve cartographies in the landscape and are performed by the Lisbon Chamber Orchestra.
Shared Landscapes, part of the European project Performing Landscapes, lasts seven hours with an interval, and tickets cost €10, with or without the option of included transport, and are already on sale. There is also a €20 ticket available, which includes a lunch menu that can be chicken, salmon or vegetarian.
