The opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games, taking place in Paris, will happen next Friday, 26th of July. To mark the occasion, Palaphita, the Brazilian jungle at Casa da Guia in Cascais, will host a concert by Matthieu, known as the “Frenchman of Samba”.

The Parisian artist will perform his samba repertoire from 7:00 PM, with a view of the sea. His love affair with Brazilian music began in 2001 during a trip to the country. “Discovering samba was like the pulse and vibration of percussion that took over my soul: it was love at first sight. Samba has no boundaries and it unites people”, says Matthieu.

After studying the genre, he began recording and performing with various musicians. He was eventually baptised the “Frenchman of Samba” by Zeca Pagodinho and mentored by Alcione, who invited him to open several of her shows in Europe, including at Campo Pequeno in Lisbon.

This week, he promises to bring France and Brazil to Cascais.
