Since moving to Cascais, Brazilian influencer Daniela Salles, originally from Rio de Janeiro and a marketing specialist, has been sharing tips and moments from her daily life on social media. Her page, Oi Cascais, where she has more than 50,000 followers. This year, she’s gearing up to host a "mega event" dedicated to children in the region, with a special focus on mothers. The event will take place at FIARTIL in Estoril, from 10th to 11th of May.

"Ever since I became a mother [two years ago], many followers started messaging me to share experiences. That’s when I began organising informal meetups with mums and created a WhatsApp group to exchange tips", explains Dani Salles, as she’s known, in a chat with Time Out. "But they were always small things: a breakfast, a lunch... But the group kept growing, and last year I held a bigger event - a picnic at Parque Marechal Carmona, which caught the attention of a few brands, but it was still very casual. Then I thought about doing something bigger to connect more mums and babies and make it open to the public. That’s when I created Oi Cascais Baby, an intimate event held on a small farm, just for mums with babies. We had activities for babies, music classes, arts workshops, and babysitters, while the mums could network and attend talks about motherhood".

Since then, Dani has been working on expanding the concept into a larger project, which is finally coming to life in partnership with Oficina Boreal and with the support of DNA Cascais and the Cascais city Hall. Unlike her previous events, which focused heavily on babies and their mothers, Oi Cascais Kids is aimed at children of all ages, from newborns to 14-year-olds. FIARTIL will host "age-segmented activities" packed with entertainment and fun. Expect bouncy castles, games, a carousel, go-karts, theatrical performances, and children’s concerts. For mums, there will be workshops and talks centred on motherhood.

This time, there will also be a market, featuring products and services for children, ranging from small artisans to major brands. "A mum attending our event will be able to find everything she needs - from party services to psychologists, babysitters, book publishers, schools… anything related to children", Dani explains.

In total, there will be over 90 stands of various sizes selling products or hosting activities. "We’re using FIARTIL differently from most events held there because the stands will also offer activities. It’ll be alternating: a shop, an activity, a service…" Dani shares, adding that restaurants will also be part of the setup.

Entry for children will be free, while tickets for adults will cost €5. The goal? To make this the first of many editions.
