O Relógio, right in the heart of Cascais — an iconic building that once housed the Town Hall and, last year, became home to various Portuguese brands — is hosting an art exhibition made from recycled materials from February 20th onwards. Não Descartáveis is a multidisciplinary exhibition by MESQ, open for the coming months, though the closing date has yet to be confirmed.

Ana Mesquita, the artist behind the project, has created 25 pieces for a dynamic and interactive space, which also features a mini cinema room and a live studio. Não Descartáveis includes sculptures, collages, and site-specific installations made from repurposed materials, mainly cardboard and paper packaging, exploring themes such as nature, the animal world, and comic book aesthetics.

MESQ has built a career spanning design, video art, and journalism. For this project — supported by the Cascais City Council and Sociedade Ponto Verde — the artist aimed to highlight the importance of sustainability and environmental awareness.

Alongside the exhibition, a lively programme is planned, including workshops with the artist for those interested in creating art from recycled packaging. Yoga classes and activities in collaboration with partners, such as Café Joyeux, are also scheduled. Entry is free.

Praça 5 de Outubro, 75, Cascais. 11.00-19.30. Free

Heads-up: these are the major events happening in Cascais in 2025
