After Wasabi Papi, how about Miami Mami? That's the name of the new brunch (and more) restaurant in Estoril, situated on Avenida Marginal, overlooking Poça Beach. It was opened in October by entrepreneurs Júlio Carvalho and Nick Coutts, founders of the Fitness Hut gym chain, and those who brought the Holmes Place brand to Portugal.
After opening a fusion sushi spot in Carcavelos, Wasabi Papi, this time the focus is on American-inspired brunch, but filled with twists – after all, Miami is a city with a strong Latin influence, something that is reflected in the menu.
There are three different brunch menus. The Breggxit (€13.90), closer to a British breakfast, includes scrambled eggs, bacon, beans, blood sausage, tomato, English sausages, oatmeal, and sliced bread toast. The Mediterranean Delight (€13.90) features eggs Benedict, a croissant board with jam and sun-dried tomato butter, yogurt with granola, fruits, and a cherry tomato, mushroom, and feta cheese salad. You can choose up to two jams from three options: dulce de leche, lemon curd, and strawberry jam.
Finally, the Continental brunch (€13.90) offers ratatouille in basil pesto, tofu scrambled egg-style, vegan granola with yogurt and fruit. It's accompanied by Alentejo bread toast, Asian mushrooms, confit cherry tomatoes, hazelnut, and basil.
Snack all day long
As for snacks, Miami Mami offers a range of toasts, like the Smoking Bruschetta (€9.90), with Alentejo bread, Asian mushrooms, confit cherry tomatoes, smoked fresh mozzarella, hazelnut, and basil; or the Avolicious (€8.90), with Alentejo bread with avocado, low-temperature eggs, fried tomato, and crispy bacon. And they're already planning new items on the menu, like the Forager toast, with crispy kale, confit wild mushrooms, pesto sauce, and poached eggs.
Leaning into the more Miami side of things, there are options on the menu that are reminiscent of an American diner. Among the burgers, the largest available is the gigantic Immoral Miami (€18.90), a brioche bun with four veal patties, caramelized onions, coleslaw salad, cheddar cheese, onion rings, cucumber pickles, bacon, fried egg, barbecue sauce, and a real mountain of fries.
Another option is the Palm Tree (€13.90), a brioche bun with a veal burger mixed with dates and sausage, arugula, tomato, cheddar cheese, cucumber pickle, bacon, barbecue sauce, and fries. There are also chicken wings (€7.90) and smoky nachos (€9.90).
There are also granola bowls, salads, eggs, tarts, and a variety of pancakes to try. The Sweet Pecado (€12.90) includes brownie ice cream, Nutella, peanut butter, and maple syrup; the Flamingo (€9.90) adds to the pancakes red fruits, white chocolate, cream ice cream, almond, and mint. Pair everything with juices, smoothies, hot drinks, or cocktails.
Miami Mami is located in the space that was previously occupied by the Eurotasca grill, which closed its doors during the pandemic. The renovations took several months, completely remodeling the place. The restaurant can seat 70 people on the lower floor, and they will soon open the upper floor, which, in addition to more tables, will have a cocktail bar.
The idea is for Miami Mami in Estoril to be the start of a successful chain. The goal is to expand the business: they plan to open a second location in Sintra and a third in Lisbon in the coming years. The creation of a strong brand is already underway through the sale of merchandise: it's possible to buy hoodies, T-shirts, caps, mugs, or bottles of the brand right there in the restaurant, before or after a dip in Poça Beach.
