This week marks European Sports Week, aimed at promoting physical activity across Europe. With 30 kilometres of coastline, 70 kilometres of cycle paths, and 25 outdoor gyms, Cascais joins the celebration with a packed weekend of free classes, ranging from canoeing to yoga. And the best part? It’s all free.
On Saturday, 28th of September, the day kicks off early at Paredão near Tamariz Beach with a fullbeat class (courtesy of the partner gym, mixing two to four fitness styles) at 9.30 AM. Followed by zumba and strong sessions, with body measurements and traditional games running at the same time.
Sunday starts with a functional training session at Carcavelos Beach, near the Bar do Moinho parking lot, at 9.00 AM, and zumba at 9.30. At the Fitness Park outdoor gym in Guia, right next to Casa da Guia, there will be personalised training sessions and nutritional advice from 9.30 AM to 12.30 PM. Meanwhile, at Praia da Ribeira, everyone can try stand-up paddleboarding or canoeing between 9.30 AM and noon.
On the same day at Casa do Cal, Quinta do Pisão, there’s yoga (10.00-11.00) and dance yoga (11.00-11.30), while hiking enthusiasts can join the ‘Discover Cabo Raso’ nature walk, a 14-kilometre trek. It starts at 9.30 AM from the Guincho Campsite and takes about four to five hours to complete. For this, registration is required, and it’s best to arrive 15 minutes early.
