Parque Marechal Carmona in Cascais is gearing up to host the Festa do Animal this Saturday, 28th September. With free entry for everyone - including your four-legged friends - the event is all about promoting the well-being and adoption of dogs and cats.

As in previous editions, the event kicks off with the Urban/Maritime Canine Trail, organised by SFA Cascais. Participation requires registration, which can be done by emailing geral@sfacascais.pt.

The programme features activities for kids, including inflatables and a children's play; dog demonstrations, such as the GNR K9 Unit and a positive obedience training showcase; a "mixed-breed dog" competition; and a concert by the band Salada Russa, paying tribute to Portuguese rock with a set of covers.

For those considering adoption, there will be plenty of dogs and cats looking for new homes.

Festa do Animal. Parque Marechal Carmona, Praceta Domingos D'Avilez, Cascais. Sat, 10.00-18.00. Free entry
