Grandma Came to Work has made its way to Cascais. This social intervention project, facilitating active ageing through a plethora of activities, and proving to be a roaring success, is on the verge of opening a new branch in the São Domingos de Rana area. And it's scouting for local grannies (or granddads) interested in joining the initiative.

“If you know anyone over 60 (be it family – mum or dad, nan or granddad, that lady who spends her days concocting things to do, the merry old soul from around here and beyond, the neighbour forever leaving bittersweet notes at the building’s entrance…) then, this post is meant for you. Share and make these dear folks even happier grannies!”, the project shared on social media, aiming to be the "new trendsetter in town".

The São Domingos de Rana Parish Council has provided a multipurpose space on Avenida Amália Rodrigues, where the grannies will be able to knit, sew, craft accessories, partake in workshops, and engage in countless other activities starting April. Sign-ups are open via email at hello@fermenta.org and by phone at 936 243 762.

What kind of cool grannies are these?

Grandma Came to Work is a social entrepreneurship initiative that's been around for about a decade and already has branches in Lisbon and São Miguel in the Azores. Its main aim remains to offer a packed schedule post-retirement, with stimulating activities that entertain.

Known for their inspiring and quirky photos, these youthful grannies have done it all and now aim to continue their mission in the Cascais municipality.
