From 22 August to 1 September, Cascais comes alive with the return of the Festas do Mar. Here’s everything you need to know.

The Festas do Mar are making their return to Cascais from August 22 to September 1. As always, entry is free, and there are concerts to suit everyone, both young and old. Beyond the music, between Jardim Visconde da Luz and the Cascais Citadel, there will also be craft stalls and food trucks. Here’s everything you need to know for this edition.
The Festas do Mar' performances are split between the main stage in the Cascais Bay and the Sagres Stage near the Citadel. On the main stage, the schedule starts with a performance for kids at 6:30 PM, followed by an opening concert at 8:00 PM, and then the headline act at 10:00 PM. The Sagres Stage is dedicated to new talents, with concerts starting at 7:00 PM, except on August 25, when the program begins an hour earlier at 6:00 PM.

If you have a Viver Cascais card, enjoy the concerts from an exclusive area close to the stage. Pick up your wristband at the designated kiosk in Jardim Visconde Luz. Keep in mind, wristbands are limited to seating capacity, and each cardholder can collect two wristbands per concert day.
Cascais Municipality recommends arriving by public transport. From Lisbon, the train might be your best bet. Local bus schedules are available online for Carris Metropolitana or MobiCascais. It’s just a 700-meter, incline-free walk from the train station or bus terminal to Cascais Bay, making it less than a ten-minute stroll. Alternatively, scooters and shared bikes are also an option.
If driving, check out the map provided by the municipality for available parking spaces, totalling 3,211 spots. Traffic closures will also be in effect during the festival.
A tradition since 1942 and now part of Cascais’ Intangible Cultural Heritage, this procession takes place on 1 September, starting at 15:00. The event includes a touching homage at sea to deceased fishermen, with prayers, flower offerings, and a symphony of boat horns.
