The Auditório Carlos Avilez at the Academia de Artes do Estoril, located in Edifício Cruzeiro, will host a cinema series over the coming weeks featuring films by two legendary directors: Alfred Hitchcock and Akira Kurosawa. Admission to the screenings on the 16th, 17th, and 30th of September and the 1st of October, at 6.30PM and 9.00PM, is free.
The first two dates are dedicated to the British filmmaker's work. On 16th September, To Catch a Thief (1955) and Under Capricorn (1949) will be shown, while The Birds (1963) and Vertigo (1958) are scheduled for the 17th.
The second pair of sessions focuses on the iconic films of the Japanese director Kurosawa. On 30th September, the audience can watch Rashomon (1950) and Yojimbo (1961), while on 1st October, it's the turn of The Bad Sleep Well (1960) and Ran (1985).
This initiative is organized by the D. Luís I Foundation in collaboration with the Cascais City Council and takes place just days after the opening of the Escola Profissional de Teatro de Cascais, also located in Edifício Cruzeiro.
