This Sunday, October 27th, the conference “Coco Chanel – The Ultimate Influencer” will take place at the Cascais Cultural Centre (CCC) auditorium. The talk is part of the “Coco Chanel, Beyond Fashion” exhibition, which runs at the CCC until November 3rd.
The exhibition tells the story of the iconic French fashion designer through her personal photographs, artworks, and clothing pieces that highlight the signature camellia, the flower that became the symbol of the brand founded by Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel. Now, the conference offers a deeper look into her influential role, led by Paulo Morais-Alexandre, an expert in Art History with a focus on fashion history and costume design. The event will be held at 18.00, with free entry, subject to room capacity.
Regarding this central figure in haute couture, whose work remained vital for six decades, exhibition curator Maria Toral highlights: "In addition to her brilliant work as a revolutionary of aesthetic trends, this is an aspect whose importance is undeniable, directly linking her to the development of 20th-century avant-garde movements".
"She was not only a patron but also a muse, and more importantly, she became a key figure in transforming what had been formally established, transcending the boundaries of fashion", she adds.
