In the summer of 2024, the Hipódromo Manuel Possolo will not only be the stage for the 20th anniversary of Cooljazz and the special show that will bring together Os Quatro e Meia and Miguel Araújo for the first time. The Cascais open-air venue will also be the venue for the Coala Festival, a musical event that was born in Brazil in 2014 and is now organising its first edition abroad. It is scheduled for 1 and 2 June 2024.

The line-up already has one confirmed artist, Brazilian music icon Gilberto Gil. The festival was created to highlight the country's national music. “We have become a reference in Brazil and now we are going to bring this identity to Portugal, focusing not only on Brazilian music, but on Portuguese-language music as a whole, bringing together the edges of the Africa-Portugal-Brazil triangle", explains Coala Festival curator and co-founder Gabriel Andrade in the official announcement.

Also involved in the programming of the Coala Festival in Portugal is the musician and writer Kalaf Epalanga, an Angolan who has lived in Lisbon for many years and is known not only for his own work but also as one of the members of Portuguese band Buraka Som Sistema.

The Cascais Municipal Council will co-produce the event. More news to come soon.
