Cascais has already caught the Carnival vibe. This Saturday, on January 27th, from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the Sardinha Imperial Pre-Carnival takes to the streets of Cascais. The block will be set up at Alameda Duquesa de Palmela with DJ Léo Niterói and a cocktail bar. Later, on February 13th, there's the Carnival Parade from the Sardinha Imperial block, gathering at 2:00 PM at Praça 5 de Outubro.
In addition to the Pre-Carnival party, which costs €10, and the Sardinha Imperial block parade, you can also look forward to a jam-packed schedule for February. This includes the iconic Carnival Procession in Malveira and Janes, organized by the group Os Tarrubuças, the oldest in the municipality, parading on February 11th and 14th. About 700 revelers and a dozen floats from the Cultural, Associative, and Recreational Movement of Cascais are expected to join forces every year to keep the tradition alive.
Heads up: due to the Procession and other masked parades, there will be several road closures in Alcabideche and Cascais-Estoril. Diversions will be clearly marked on-site, and the management of road closures is overseen, whenever necessary, by the Cascais Municipal Police. Access to garages and emergency vehicles will be ensured, but you can find all the information on the municipality's website.
The return of Vila Folia to Cascais' Market Village is also on the cards. The complete program hasn't been announced yet, but expect music, entertainment, and plenty of food on February 11th and 13th, from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
