The second Portuguese edition of Coala Festival is shaping up nicely, with two more big names from the Brazilian music scene joining the lineup: Criolo and Bruno Berle, both set to perform on June 1st.

Criolo has long been a defining figure in Brazilian music, seamlessly blending hip-hop, samba and electronic sounds, while also carving out a career in film. His latest album, Sobre Viver, saw him sell out two nights at Lisbon’s Musicbox last autumn.

Bruno Berle might not be a household name just yet, but he’s one of Brazil’s most intriguing and distinctive singer-songwriters. He made his Portugal debut in 2024 to a packed crowd at Lisa, barely a month after releasing No Reino dos Afetos 2 - a stunning mix of Brazilian rhythms, indie influences and global electronic sounds.

Founded a decade ago in Brazil, Coala Festival returns to Portugal on May 31st and June 1st, taking over Cascais’ Hipódromo Manuel Possolo for a weekend celebrating Lusophone music.

His songs were first heard in Lisbon on the night of May 22nd, and just six months later, they were back - this time on a bigger stage at B.Leza. For this special reunion with the Portuguese audience, the singer-songwriter from Alagoas formed a band just for the occasion, bringing together his trusted collaborator Batata Boy with Portuguese musicians Diogo Rodrigues (Ganso), Femme Falafel, Rapaz Ego, and Salvador Seabra (Capitão Fausto).

On Saturday, May 31st, the standout names so far include award-winning Brazilian singer Liniker, as well as Djodje, Ana Lua Caiano, and António Zambujo, who will be performing with the Cantadores do Rancho da Aldeia Nova de S. Bento.
