Because some jobs and projects require more than just hopping from coffee shop to coffee shop while using borrowed Wi-Fi passwords, there’s now a dedicated space where foreigners working remotely from Cascais can sit down and focus. Located right in the town centre, this initiative was created by Turismo de Cascais, making it the only national tourism promotion association to add a free and community-oriented coworking space to its Visit Center.

So, how does this Coworking space actually work?

Joining is very straightforward: just fill out the form and accept the online contract, or do it in person at the Visit Center if you want to check out the space first.

Then, you’ll need to submit your project via email (coworking@visitorcenter.com) to COMCASCAIS, detailing what you plan to dedicate at least two hours a week or eight hours a month to, as well as the consulting work you’ll be doing on that project. This is one of the requirements to secure one of those sought-after spots right by the sea. A list of projects is available so applicants can choose what best suits their skills and expertise. The range of activities is broad and includes options like communication consultancy, content production, audiovisual production and editing, translations, support for sustainability projects, design and production of graphic and promotional materials, development of applications and systems in the tech field, and research and data analysis for projects developed by ATC in their activities.

The next step is to receive approval, which will happen within a maximum of 48 hours. Once approved, you’ll receive a code via email or WhatsApp to access the coworking services.

What working conditions are we talking about?

This is a community space with twelve workstations and stunning views of the bay and the Atlantic, available for a minimum of one month. There is access to the internet via Wi-Fi or cable, storage lockers, and a small kitchenette with water, coffee, and tea. Scanning and printing services are available for a fee— for example, black and white printing costs €0.25 for A4 and €0.30 for A3; colour printing costs €0.75 for A4 and €0.80 for A3. The space is cleaned weekly, air-conditioned for added comfort, and monitored by security and CCTV.

When you start using the coworking space, a deposit of €150 is required as a guarantee to ensure compliance with all commitments. This deposit is refunded within 8 working days at the end of your stay.

Lastly, the operating hours are ideal for those looking to maintain a work-life balance. The space is open daily from 09.00 to 19.00 from May to 15th of October, and from 09.00 to 18.00 during the remaining months. The Coworking Visit Center is closed from 25th of December to 1st of January for a well-deserved Christmas break.
