Praia da Rainha, in Cascais, is closed for swimming. The decision follows water quality tests conducted on August 1st, which revealed microbiological values above the reference parameters.
"Further tests have already been carried out by CMC and APA (Portuguese Environment Agency) and we are awaiting the results", reads a statement from the Cascais City Council. "We appreciate your understanding and apologise for any inconvenience caused".
The red flag has been raised, and warnings have also been placed at the beach entrances. The restrictions will remain in place until new test results indicate that it is safe to swim again.
