Sip and swirl at the Winter Wine Series

As Women’s Month comes to a close in South Africa, the penultimate edition of the Time Out Market Cape Town’s Winter Wine Series rolls into the V&A Waterfront on Saturday, August 31 with a special event that will shine a spotlight on some of the Western Cape’s most talented women winemakers.

The Winter Wine Series launched in May this year, and over the course of five monthly events showcases more than 150 wine producers from across the Cape Winelands. Hosted in the Time Out Studio, upstairs at the Market, guests can look forward to sipping and swirling their way through the wines of diverse Cape cellars, discovering the regional variation in terroir and the innovation in winemaking styles that have seen South Africa lauded as one of the New World’s most exciting producers. 

August will deliver something special, with an impactful approach of ‘Meet the Women Winemakers’, offering attendees the opportunity to engage with the inspiring women wine producers behind some of the Cape’s leading cellars.

• Nederburg

• The Fledge and Co.
• The Township Winery

• Zonnebloem

Alongside informal tasting sessions, often hosted by the winemakers themselves, look forward to informative guided tastings and short presentations that delve into the craft and artistry of winemaking.

Of course, wine and food go together perfectly so be sure to arrive early for a bite to eat beforehand or stay a little later to enjoy a taste of the Market’s 12 remarkable outlets.

The August Winter Wine Series event takes place on Saturday, August 31, 2024 from 1 pm – 5 pm in the Time Out Studio upstairs at the Market.

Tickets for the Time Out Market Winter Wine Series cost R300 per person when purchased online in advance via Howler, or R350 per person at the door. Tickets include one wine glass and unlimited (come thirsty!) tastings from the wine producers featured on the day.
