With summer just about on the horizon, Cape Town is bracing itself for an influx of European carriers bringing sun-seekers and swallows to the Mother City.

Norse Atlantic is a brand-new airline for Cape Town, offering a long-haul low-cost service to/from London Gatwick, but there’s more good news for travellers and locals as Virgin Atlantic has announced it will extend its summer service for the upcoming 2024-2025 season.

Virgin Atlantic returned to the Mother City in 2023 after a seven-year absence, offering more than 80 000 seats between London Heathrow and Cape Town.

This year the airline’s daily summer service takes off from London on October 26, 2024. That seasonal service would usually run until March 2025, but (as Travel News reports) this has now been extended by a month to take the later Easter holidays into account. Direct flights from Cape Town to London on Virgin Atlantic will now be available until April 30, 2025.

The daily London-Cape Town service will be operated on Virgin Atlantic’s Boeing 787-9 aircraft, with Upper Class, Premium and Economy cabins.

Here's the low-down on the new Norse Atlantic service to Cape Town...
