The DHL Stormers run out onto the turf of DHL Stadium on February 8, with a capacity crowd expected to cheer the home team on against their old nemesis, the Vodacom Bulls, in the United Rugby Championship.
With more than 45 000 spectators expected at what will be the Stormers’ last home game for more than two months, getting to and from the stadium is going to require some planning.
As always, allowing plenty of time is key for a stress-free day out, and public transport is your best bet for avoiding the inevitable traffic jams that form in and around the stadium.
A free MyCiTi shuttle service – only available for ticket holders – will ferry spectators to the stadium from the Civic Centre, Thibault Square and the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).
The shuttle service will start operating from 10.30am from the Civic Centre, Thibault Square and the CTICC. The last bus will leave the stadium and the Green Point Precinct at 6pm. Here is the full MyCiti shuttle schedule.
Wondering where to park for the MyCiti shuttle service to the DHL Cape Town Stadium?
From 10am the City of Cape Town will open up its parking areas – accessible from Hertzog Boulevard inbound – free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. There are also around 1000 parking bays at the CTICC, but you’ll have to pay for parking. Expect to pay around R50 for five hours of parking. More paid parking is also available at Parkalot on Jack Craig Street and at the Harbour Arch on Harbour Arch Boulevard.
If you don’t want to take the bus, the Fan Walk will be open on Saturday, and always offers a festive approach to Cape Town’s iconic stadium. Expect road closures to be in place along Somerset and Main Road, from Buitengracht Street towards Sea Point.
Gates at DHL Stadium will open at 11am, and the Stormers vs Bulls match is scheduled to kick off at 2pm.
Still need a ticket? As of Friday afternoon, there were still a handful of tickets available for the Stormers vs Bulls game, with seats high up in the ‘nosebleeds’ on offer for as little as R60. But there were also two pairs of seats in block 215, on the ‘22’, for R350 each. Get clicking quickly!
