Capetonians who love their music live and on stage are in for a treat this year as a string of artists across musical genres announce new dates for massive shows in the Mother City.

The latest act to announce they are coming to local shores is much-loved Mike + The Mechanics who will bring their 'Looking Back - Living The Years 2025 Tour' to South Africa in 2025. In fact, Cape Town will kick off the world tour , with the first gig slated for January 30, 2025, at the Grand Arena at GrandWest

The tour will see them play their unforgettable hits including 'Over My Shoulder', 'The Living Years' and 'All I Need Is A Miracle', 'Word of Mouth', 'Another Cup of Coffee', 'Nobody's Perfect', ' A Beggar on a Beach of Gold' as well as drift into some of Genesis' much-loved classic tracks.

Can't wait until then?

First up is the arrival of Carnegie Hall's acclaimed national youth jazz orchestra – NYO Jazz – that is coming on its first-ever tour to South Africa. This remarkable ensemble brings together some of America's most talented teenage jazz musicians to perform and tour on stage with a host of renowned artists. After a farewell concert at Carnegie Hall in New York, NYO Jazz sets off for South Africa and will be playing at the Artscape Theater on August 2 and 3, 2024. Expect to see some exciting collaborations with talented South African musicians too.

Multi-award-winning and Grammy-nominated British singer James Blunt – as famous for his music as his self-deprecating X account – is touring South Africa later this year in support of his new album ' Who We Used To Be ', his first studio album since the acclaimed 2019 release 'Once Upon A Mind'. James and his band will play at the Grand Arena, GrandWest on September 12, 2024, with tickets via Ticketmaster .

Next up is two-time Grammy Award-winning hit-makers Kool & the Gang, who bring their grooves to the Grand Arena on November 28, 2024. With hits like iconic tunes Celebration, Jungle Boogie and Open Sesame, Kool & The Gang have clocked up 31 gold and platinum albums, and have now performed continuously longer than any R&B group in history, and the most sampled R&B band of all time.

Looking ahead to 2025, Cigarettes After Sex has added a second date to their shows at the Grand Arena. Known for their raw slow-burn pop songs evoking vignettes of lost love in the remarkable falsetto of frontman Greg Gonzalez. The new date for March 4, 2025 is still on sale.

Italian maestro Andrea Bocelli will show his enduring popularity when he fills the DHL Stadium on April 16, 2025. In what is set to be the largest outdoor classical concert ever staged in Cape Town, Bocelli will be accompanied by a special guest artist – yet to be revealed – alongside the Philharmonia Choir of Cape Town and the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.
