Fasten your seatbelts and set up your picnic chairs… the West Coast Airshow returns to the skies above Saldanha Bay from March 21-22, 2025.

Taking off from the Saldanha/Vredenburg Airport, just a 90-minute drive north of Cape Town, this spectacular event promises thrilling aerial displays, and plenty of entertainment for aviation enthusiasts.

‘We’re thrilled to bring the West Coast Airshow back in 2025,’ says organiser Clive Coetzee. ‘This year, we’re welcoming the dynamic Marksmen Aerobatic Team, the Impala MK1 from TFSA, the L-29 Delfin Jet called ‘comin’ in hot’, the incredible T-51D Mustang and a lineup of unforgettable aerial performances, all set against the magnificent West Coast backdrop. It’s a must-attend event for anyone who loves aviation and thrill-seeking adventures.’

The West Coast Airshow is spread across two days, and with Friday a public holiday, it’s the perfect opportunity to plan a weekend away up the West Coast. Here’s how you can expect the weekend to unfold:

  • Friday, March 21: On build-up day (Human Rights Day) gates open at 12pm for guests to watch the validation flights for the main event the following day. Other activities include a Potjiekos Competition, a Drone Park, 4x4 demonstrations, a Kiddies Fun Park and RC Airplane displays.
  • Saturday, March 22: Gates open at 6am for punters keen to bag the best seats. The main event begins at 9am, and will feature more than 20 awe-inspiring aerial displays that run from fast jets and gliders, to solo and team flying demonstrations, helicopters, skydiving, drone racing, Navy precision drills, and rescue demonstrations. During the lunch break there will even be a chance to meet the pilots and see the flying machines up close!

Across the weekend you’ll find food trucks and drinks vendors, a FunFair Park for children, beer garden, gin bar and a 4x4 track. Rough camping and glam camping options are available on site for a full long weekend experience, ro book a bed in and around the airfield.

Tickets for the main Airshow Day (Saturday, March 22) cost R200 per adult, with discounts for pensioners and scholars. Tickets for the Friday ‘Build-up’ Day are a steal at R20 per adult. For more details, and to book your ticket, visit https://weskustickets.co.za.
