From humble beginnings in rural Limpopo to reaching the finals of America's Got Talent, and playing sold-out shows across three continents, the Ndlovu Youth Choir is nothing short of a South African musical sensation.
They’ve got co-labs with the likes of Master KG and P!nk under the belt, and have performed for everyone from Trevor Noah to King Charles to Bill Gates. And now this much-loved choir is returning to perform on local shores, with a dozen local dates added to kick-start their busy 2025 touring calendar.
Local promoter Showtime Management has lined up shows in Cape Town and Johannesburg, with the Ndlovu Youth Choir playing six (no doubt soon to be sold-out) performances in each city. The Cape Town concerts take place at the Artscape Opera House from January 30 – February 2, 2025.
The Choir’s 2024 repertoire includes brand-new numbers such as Bohemian Rhapsody.
'We bring this iconic song to Africa by infusing the original Queen melody with local genres,' says conductor, composer and producer, Ralf Schmitt. Also look forward to a South African medley with a signature Ndlovu flavour, honouring local music legends including Johnny Clegg, Sipho Hotstix, Mango Groove, Mandoza and Kurt Darren.
Since its inception in 2009, the Ndlovu Youth Choir has become one of South Africa’s most treasured choral groups also recognised globally for their unique music locally and internationally with tours across the USA and Europe.
After their local shows they hit the road for a theatre residency at the prestigious AFAS Theatre in the Netherlands, before travelling to New York to grace the stage at the famous Carnegie Hall.
Tickets, from R200 per person, are available now via Ticketmaster.
These star-studded concerts are also on the calendar for Cape Town!
