It’s a good time to be looking for flights between Cape Town and London.

Along with the arrival of Norse Atlantic this October – a brand-new airline for the Mother City – British Airways is juggling its schedules to bring in extra flights this summer.

British Airways currently operates a daily service from London Heathrow to Cape Town, but will double this frequency from end-October 2024 to cater for the surge in sun-seeking holidaymakers.

But wait, there’s more! From January 10, 2025 British Airways will add another daily service onto the route. That will mean three direct flights per day from London to Cape Cape Town – 21 per week – on British Airways alone.

That will make them far and away the dominant carrier on the route, but if you’re on the hunt for good fares also look out for the likes of Norse Atlantic Airways and Virgin Atlantic.

Norse Atlantic recently announced a new service into the city, launching three flights per week from London Gatwick into Cape Town, and will extend that service to cater for Easter holiday travellers.

The new Norse route takes off on October 28, 2024, with outbound flights departing Cape Town (Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday) at 11.45am and arriving at London Gatwick at 9.35pm the same day. Return flights (Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday) leave London Gatwick at 8pm to land in Cape Town at 9.30am the following morning. And there’s more good news, with Norse Atlantic launching its September Sale offering Economy Lite fares for just £322 – around R7500 return!

Virgin Atlantic is also rebooting its summer seasonal route, and from October 28 – a busy day for airlines into Cape Town! – until end-April will offer a daily service from London Heathrow to Cape Town,

All of which adds up to 31 flights per week connecting Cape Town and London for the summer. So whether you’re looking for a sunny escape, or want to soak up the festive cheer in England, now’s the time to get booking.

The low-down on Norse Atlantic: the brand-new airline flying to Cape Town this summer.
