It’s set to be a busy summer in Cape Town, if the boom in airline capacity is anything to go by!
Along with the arrival of Norse Atlantic this October – a brand-new airline for the Mother City – both British Airways and Virgin Atlantic will be pouring new capacity into Cape Town airport for the busy summer season.
And now KLM is in on the action, boosting its schedule just in time for Christmas.
KLM already offers a daily service from Cape Town to Amsterdam – connecting to KLM’s 155 worldwide destinations – but from December 17, 2024, until the end of the winter season, KLM will increase its capacity to Cape Town with two additional flights per week on Tuesdays and Sundays.
In addition to the current daily flights, KLM will introduce flight KL595/596. This new service will arrive in Cape Town at 06.10am and depart at 08.05am on Mondays and Wednesdays, starting December 17.
Sister-airline Air France is following suit – and a little earlier too! – rebooting their seasonal service with three weekly flights from Paris to Cape Town from October 7, 2024. And they’re set to add a fourth from November!
These seasonal flights will operate on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays and will be operated by a Boeing Dreamliner 787-900 and are in addition to Air France’s existing daily flights between Paris and Johannesburg. The additional Cape Town flight in November will cater to the increased travel demand during the holiday season.
That’s good news for European travellers seeking summer sun in the Mother City, as well as locals looking for a white Christmas abroad. Get booking soon to bag the best fares.
