Born in New Zealand and raised in Australia (but we won’t hold that against him) Jordan Rakei is known for his genre-blending musical style that fuses soul, jazz, hip-hop, and electronic influences. A multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter, Rakei is celebrated for his smooth, soulful vocals and introspective lyricism.

His breakthrough came with his self-released Groove Curse EP in 2014, which led to collaborations with artists like Tom Misch and Disclosure. Albums such as Cloak and Origin showcase his versatility, combining rich, textured soundscapes with personal themes around identity and self-reflection. Now based in London, Rakei continues to captivate audiences with his innovative sound and emotionally resonant performances.

In 2024 Rakei released his fifth studio album, The Loop, which comes packed full of lush orchestral arrangements merging with the groovy beats he is known for. Stream tracks like ‘Freedom’ and ‘Trust’ for a taster portion.

But the main course will be served at Kirstenbosch on Friday, November 29, 2024, when Rakei takes to the iconic stage beneath Table Mountain for one night only. Tickets are already selling fast, and are available on Webtickets, from R595 – R795.

As always, the Kirstenbosch concert arena is on the lawns in front of the stage, so pack a picnic and settle in for an unforgettable evening of sultry tunes.

Plan ahead for magic and music beneath the stars at Maynardville.
