As any savvy local foodie will agree, it’s always worth the drive out into the Overberg for lunch at Farro, the stylish country eatery on Gabrielskloof Wine Estate just outside Bot river. With tables in the sheltered courtyard, or indoors with wide winelands views, Alex and Eloise Windebank serve up a deliciously seasonal menu of contemporary country cuisine given a Cape twist. All I’m saying is: duck liver parfait. If you know, you know.

That, however, won’t be on the menu when the pair come to Cape Town for a two-night pop-up at The Residency at Maker's Landing, in the V&A Waterfront. This exclusive opportunity to enjoy a taste of Farro takes place on February 21 and 22, 2025.

While their usual menu at Gabrielskloof is à la carte, and lunch only, this February pop-up promises a five-course chef’s menu for an adventurous taste of what Chef Alex has up his sleeve.

‘We want to create a really delicious dining experience, reaching back to our roots a bit, turning the music up and the lights down and rolling up our sleeves for long absent dinner service,’ says Eloise Windebank. ‘To offer guests a seat at our table and say ‘Here, try this, it's delicious!’’

While the final menu is under wraps, expect the five courses to run Snacks / Pasta / Fish / Meat / Sweet.

‘There is an optional drinks pairing as well as a lovely wine list featuring some of our favourite wines, non-alcoholic options and a few select cocktails and beers,’ says Eloise.

A seat at the Farro pop-up costs R800pp, with a R400pp deposit required on booking. No dietary accommodations will be made, and no corkage/BYOB is permitted. To book, email eloise@farrofoodandwine.com.
