The Franschhoek Bastille 2024 celebration – due to take place this weekend on the Franschhoek High School rugby field – has been postponed due to the series of storms that have brought torrential rain and flooding to Cape Town and the winelands.

The festival will now take place in the same venue on the following weekend, July 20-21, 2024.

‘The decision to postpone was made after careful consideration and consultation with our structural engineers and safety team, who play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of our events and all guests,’ explained Ruth McCourt, CEO of Franschhoek Tourism. ‘The decision to postpone was not taken lightly, but it was essential to ensure our annual celebration lives up to the months of hard work that define it.

The storm currently hitting Cape Town was upgraded to a Level 8 by local weather services, bringing widespread flooding and damage to property.

‘With the wintry weather still in full force, don your wellington boots next weekend and let the fine wines fuel the usual merriment, despite the weather," adds McCourt.

Original tickets will remain valid for the new dates and are not refundable.
