Listen up Tygers! Here’s the low-down if you want to catch GRAMMY-winning local girl Tyla in concert.

Fresh from her win at the MTV VMA’s, where she walked away with the gong for Best New Artist – GRAMMY-winning South African superstar Tyla is coming home for the summer, with shows in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Famous for her viral award-winning track ‘Water’ – which made her the highest-charting female soloist ever on the US Hot 100 chart, peaking at #7 – Tyla’s meteoric rise has seen her become one of South Africa’s most successful female artists. 

In February 2024, Tyla won the inaugural Best African Music Performance at the GRAMMYs, while the viral success of ‘Water’ made her the first South African soloist to enter the Billboard Hot 100 in over 55 years.

The track also bagged Tyla Best New Artist and Best International Act at the MTV VMA’s She was also nominated for a Brit Award, two iHeartRadio Music Awards and an Ivor Novello for Best Contemporary SongTyla’s debut self-titled album was released in March 2024, blending amapiano, afrobeats, contemporary R&B and pop; her signature ‘popiano’ blend. NME called her ‘South Africa’s brightest new star’ while Rolling Stone rates her as ‘the perfect amapiano ambassador’.

‘I've been travelling the world, experiencing so much along the way. It's been a journey, but now I'm finally coming home. I'm beyond excited to perform for my TYGERS and share this moment with all of you!’ says Tyla.

The good news for Cape Town is that the Mother City is the first stop on Tyla’s mini-tour. Tyla will perform at Grand Arena, GrandWest, Cape Town on December 5, 2024, before moving to the SunBet Arena in Menlyn, Pretoria, on December 7.  Both shows begin at 8pm, and tickets are priced from R500.

It’s her first local tour since her meteoric rise to global stardom, and tickets are sure to sell out fast. Tickets are on sale from 10am on Thursday, October 10, via www.ticketmaster.co.za.
