Valentine's Day is approaching, a “foreign” holiday that, little by little, Argentinians have adopted as our own, especially in the world of gastronomy, which takes advantage of the occasion to create special menus that celebrate love.

If you’re looking to celebrate Valentine's Day outside of home with a delicious dinner, here are 12 romantic restaurant suggestions in Buenos Aires, offering different styles, prices, and locations, so you can choose the one that best suits your taste and that of your significant other.

1. Punto Mona

On February 14th, Punto Mona, one of the best bars in Buenos Aires, will celebrate love with a very original proposal: a symbolic altar, flower bouquets, and a special toast for those who wish to "marry for a day." During the evening, an actor dressed as a priest will officiate brief ceremonies and hand the newlyweds a personalized red booklet as a keepsake. The experience includes a toast and a photograph in a decorated space for the occasion.

The night will also feature 5 menus designed especially for the date: "We are getting to know each other," "Dating," "Newlyweds," and for singles; "Tinder full" and "Single Mode ON." All will be accompanied by a selection of cocktails created by bartender Mona Gallosi, the founder of Punto Mona. What kind of cocktails? The Platónico with rose vodka, triple sec, chandon rosé, pineapple, orange, plum; Flechazo with white vermouth blend, chandon extra brut, jasmine, coriander; and Sintonía with native forest gin, peach, ginger, lemongrass, lemon, CO2).

How much? Each menu has a different price. They start at $44,000 per person. Cocktails are priced at $10,500 each or $19,000 for two.

2. Enero

What’s better than dining with a view of the river? Enero is the perfect spot for that. For Valentine’s Day, they offer a step-by-step menu to celebrate, on Friday, February 14th, from 8:00 PM. The proposal includes off-menu dishes specially created for a unique evening.

Spoiler: among the appetizers, there will be a tasting that includes a smoked salmon macaroon and a goat cheese and fig puff pastry, among other delights. For the main course, pumpkin gnocchi or cherna fillet, and dessert is a chocolate marquise that deserves space in your stomach.

Note: The menu price doesn’t include drinks, but you can accompany your meal with wine glasses and bottles at promotional prices, such as $8,000 per glass and $30,000 per bottle of D.V. Catena wines.

3. Alma

On February 14th, starting at 8:00 PM, Alma Restaurant will offer a special 6-course dinner carefully designed and paired with the best wines from Bodega Trivento.

The menu begins with an amuse-bouche, followed by a choice of starters: trout tartare with avocado and cashews or chickpea cream with lime, accompanied by roasted carrots. The main flavors include options like cherna al Josper, served with zucchini cream, peas, corn, and a touch of lemon; or a crispy potato with mushrooms, eggplant paste, and green oil. The fourth step offers a contrast between rib-eye steak with smoked carrot cream, Malbec reduction, and almond air or beet risotto with brie cheese and pistachios. The experience ends with a refreshing raspberry and mint granita, followed by almond croustillant with cream cheese and coffee, accompanied by petits fours.

The menu includes a bottle of wine for every two people, with options between Trivento Golden Reserve Malbec, Trivento Golden Reserve Chardonnay, and Trivento Brut Nature, along with non-alcoholic beverages and coffee.

4. Baja América

One of the major openings of 2024, so if you haven’t visited yet, Valentine’s Day might be the perfect occasion. Located in the Núñez neighborhood and led by chef Antonio Bautista, Baja América is a love letter to Latin American cuisine and a place where every detail matters.

They offer a step-by-step menu that honors the flavors of a continent, combining techniques and ingredients from around the world to create dishes with a distinctively Latin flavor, paired with Argentine wines.

For Valentine’s Day, they propose a 4-step menu that includes a crispy rice snack, beef tartare with huacatay and sake gel. Additionally, a Kinilaw, a raw fish dish with peach and chipotle. The main course is aged lamb in koji with 4-spice sauce and apple puree. To finish, Chinese pears in white pinot wine, mascarpone, and hazelnut.

Now, let’s talk about a “house favorite.” We love Cauce de los Fuegos, the luxurious Puerto Madero restaurant recommended by the 2024 Michelin Guide, and we couldn’t skip highlighting their proposal for Valentine’s Day.

That’s right—Musgo pays tribute to the love story that gave birth to the restaurant with a menu that includes black hake, the first dish chef and co-founder Konstantin ever prepared for his wife Ksenia, which later became the restaurant’s signature dish.
