The lineup includes iconic names like Andrés Calamaro, Las Pelotas, No Te Va Gustar, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, and Los Auténticos Decadentes, as well as up-and-coming artists like Benito Cerati, 107 Faunos, Zoe Gotusso, and Francisca y Los Exploradores, among many others. The lineup continues to grow, with the latest addition of established acts Babasónicos and Ratones Paranoicos.

We sat down one-on-one with Fernando Ruiz Díaz of Catupecu Machu and Juanchi Baleirón of Los Pericos to bring you all the info on Quilmes Rock 2025.

Fernando Ruiz Díaz and His Memories of the First Quilmes Rock

Catupecu Machu was part of the first Quilmes Rock, held over several days at River Plate’s auxiliary field. On the day the band led by brothers Fernando and Gabriel Ruiz Díaz played, other artists like Vicentico, Los Tipitos, Árbol, Intoxicados, and Bersuit Vergarabat also performed.

“I remember being with Pity Álvarez and Pelado Cordera in the backstage area. It was a time when we were all on tour, so we ran into each other a lot. At one point, Gamexane, the guitarist from Todos Tus Muertos and a band I loved from the 80s, La Sobrecarga, comes into the dressing room. I remember you couldn’t drink outside the backstage area, and Gamexane comes up to greet me, so I invite him to have a beer with us. We were thrilled about what was happening, what the new festival was creating, and look at the history it has now,” Fernando Ruiz Díaz tells us, recalling his surprise appearance on November 13 on the street in front of Bar du Marché in Palermo. With a short set, the Catupecu singer announced he would join the 2025 lineup as a solo artist, performing a mix of new songs, band classics, and rock staples.

"We were thrilled about what was happening, what the new festival was creating, and look at the history Quilmes Rock has now (Ruiz Díaz)"

A True Festival Band

Throughout their history, Catupecu Machu has delivered memorable festival performances. While some just do their thing, they go above and beyond. Just look at the last Quilmes Rock in 2022 at Tecnópolis, where the band reunited after Fernando focused on his other project, Vanthra.

But Ruiz Díaz goes even further back, recalling Catupecu’s show at the festival’s second edition in 2004 at Ferro stadium. “That day we premiered ‘Magia veneno.’ The song had just hit the radio a week before, and I remember Draco Rosa performed before us at the festival. It was amazing for me that he was there. And now, in my new solo album, I have a very good cover of his ‘Más y más,’” Ruiz Díaz says, adding, “I have a thousand stories from Quilmes Rock, like how at the first one, we played ‘Ciudad de pobres corazones’ by Fito (Páez), and he found out and started coming to perform it with us many times after that. Catupecu has always been a band very much at home in festivals. Some artists like to act like they're just there out of duty, but for us, it’s the opposite. The first show of the tour for the album that’s set to finish in March—it’ll be at Quilmes Rock.”

The New Era of Los Pericos

Juanchi Baleirón, vocalist and guitarist of Los Pericos, recalls “an especially significant moment” for the band at Quilmes Rock. “In 2004 at Ferro stadium, it was our first public appearance with our current lineup—20 years ago. We had done a debut show for fans at Vorterix, but this was our first headlining slot at a festival, alongside Divididos and Café Tacuba, in front of a crowd that wasn’t entirely ours but who knew our music. We played a very rock-oriented set, and it was amazing, a sort of rebirth of the band.” This was Los Pericos’ first major show after the departure of their former singer, Bahiano, a few months earlier.

"Quilmes Rock 2004 was our first public appearance with the current lineup of Los Pericos, exactly 20 years ago (Baleirón)"

“Another beautiful moment was the first Quilmes Rock in 2003, at River’s auxiliary field. Over time, the 2004 show took on a new significance, as it became the most important for us, with colleagues, journalists, and a crowd that wasn’t strictly ours out there. From that moment, we felt everyone’s respect because the band showed it could hold its own. It was emotional, beautiful, and we felt a lot of positive energy from the people.”

Where is Quilmes Rock 2025 Happening?

In its nine editions (not counting the online 2020 edition), the festival has taken place at various locations: River’s auxiliary field, Ferro stadium, the Monumental, GEBA, and the last one in 2022 at Tecnópolis. According to our sources, it’s highly likely that the 2025 edition of Quilmes Rock will return to Tecnópolis; only a few details remain before the production team makes it official. The Villa Martelli grounds can accommodate a massive crowd—an estimated 60,000 attendees are expected each day of the festival—and hold multiple stages for all confirmed and yet-to-be-announced artists.
