Recently, it seems that pistachios have won the battle against other nuts and have become the favorite, surpassing almonds, peanuts, and walnuts.

With its unique flavor, it has become a craze, and dubbed "green gold," it is consumed in cakes, alfajores, spreads, salads, and, of course, on its own. Every February 26th, it is celebrated worldwide, and we recommend 4 places in Buenos Aires where you can indulge in pistachio in whatever way you like the most.

1. Café Vespress

Literally, it’s the pistachio paradise in Buenos Aires. Café Vespress is so passionate about pistachios that they even created a little icon to declare their unconditional love, calling it the “patron of pastry.”

At both of their locations, you can find cannolis, brioche, chocolates, biscottis, and many more options filled with the creamiest pistachio. To celebrate the day, they'll have discounts on more than 20 pistachio-based products and will unveil a new surprise creation, which they hint will be in the form of "bites." You’ll have to go try it!

2. Barragán Lonchería y Café

Barragán, the first Mexican lunch spot in Buenos Aires, joins the celebrations with an exclusive three-milk cake with a unique taste and texture. The cake is filled with pistachio pastry cream, pistachio meringue, and roasted pistachios. Yes, a pistachio triple threat!

In this modern version, the moist sponge of the iconic cake is filled with pistachio pastry cream, covered with an Italian meringue enriched with pistachio paste, and topped with chopped pistachios.

This reinterpretation of the classic Latin American dessert can be enjoyed at their two locations in the neighborhoods of Caballito and Palermo, both with outdoor seating to enjoy.
