Dramas, comedies, one-person shows, musicals. Premieres and revivals. Classics or avant-garde productions. Corrientes Street breathes theater and offers something for every taste. Here are our recommendations for theater shows to enjoy during the rich summer 2025 season.

1. ¿Quién es quién?

Starring Luis Brandoni and Soledad Silveyra. Directed by Héctor Díaz.

The year kicks off strong with a theatrical event: for the first time, Luis Brandoni and Soledad Silveyra appear together on stage, playing two beloved characters in a fresh and sharp comedy that delves into the life of a couple trapped in a routine.

A night awaiting dinner with friends triggers a cascade of hilarious situations that force them to reflect on love, communication, and the pursuit of happiness. Undoubtedly, it's a great opportunity to see two of the country's greatest actors clash in an acting duel.

2. La Madre

Starring Cecilia Roth, Gustavo Garzón, Martín Slipak, and Victoria Baldomir. Directed by Andrea Garrote.

The exciting chance to see Cecilia Roth in a captivating and moving story that questions the boundaries of loneliness, emptiness, and sanity. The work of acclaimed French playwright Florian Zeller challenges us about whether a mother who has built her life around her son can rebuild herself once he leaves home. Did she live for herself or for others? Was it worth it? These and many other questions are raised in this play by the Oscar, Tony, and Molière-winning playwright.

3. Matar a mamá

Starring Inés Estevez, Florencia Raggi, and María Rosa Fugazot. Directed by Paula Ransenberg.

A comedy written by Laura Oliva that delves into the world of two sisters bewildered by their mother's sudden fame, who, at 80 years old, becomes a YouTube stand-up sensation, exposing them publicly. The play, grounded in humor, explores the complexity of family communications and sibling relationships.

4. La última sesión de Freud

Starring Luis Machín and Javier Lorenzo. Directed by Daniel Veronese.

Announced as the definitive farewell, this play has already had two successful seasons in Buenos Aires, a national tour, and won several Ace and Estrella de Mar awards.

What's it about? Sigmund Freud invites a young and promising C.S. Lewis to his London home on the day England enters World War II. With intelligence and humor, the two brilliant academics debate great universal themes: the existence of God, love, sex, and the meaning of life.

5. Somos Nosotros

Starring Denise Dumas, Fede Bal, Sofía Pachano, Germán "Tripa" Tripel, and Lionel Arostegui. Directed by Ariel Del Mastro.

An explosive comedy that puts issues like love, fidelity, and temptation on the table. A third person disrupts the life of a happy couple, shaking their world and setting off a rollercoaster of emotions that, through humor and provocation, encourage reflection on prejudices, monogamy, and polyamory. 6. The Ice Cream Parlor

With Ana Scannapieco, Boy Olmi, and Pablo Fusco.

Ana, the granddaughter of the creator of the legendary Scannapieco ice cream parlor, decided to honor her family’s history with a play that follows her quest for the lemon ice cream recipe she ate as a child. With this mission, she will take the audience on a dreamlike journey through fruits, chocolate, and cups to discover a legacy that is a way of seeing life through a cone.

7. Cuando Frank conoció a Carlitos

Starring Oscar Lajad, Alan Madanes, and Antonella Misenti. Directed by Natalia del Castillo.

This magical musical, which won seven Hugo Awards and sold out all its performances, returns to Buenos Aires stages to delight us with the potential encounter between Carlos Gardel and Frank Sinatra in 1930s New York. A grand production with talented dancers and live orchestra tells the story of an imaginary friendship that would change music history forever.

8. Mi Querido Presidente

Starring Miguel Angel Solá and Maxi de la Cruz. Directed by Max Otranto.

A hilarious comedy to reflect on power, pride, and insecurities. On the day of his inauguration, the newly elected President faces an unexpected and ridiculous obstacle: an uncontrollable itch in his nose that threatens to ruin his inaugural speech. Desperate to maintain composure, one hour before the ceremony, he seeks the help of a prestigious psychiatrist, and they engage in a verbal duel between political power and psychological authority.

9. Escape Room

Starring Brenda Gandini, Agustín Sullivan, Cande Molfese, and Gonzalo Suarez. Directed by Nelson Valente.

In 2024, this comedy became one of the most-watched shows on Corrientes Street, and it returns this year with a new cast. Four friends organize an escape room game in which they must solve a series of puzzles to escape, but once the door closes, strange events start happening that will test their relationships and expose their deepest secrets. It seems that finding the exit won't be as easy as they thought!

10. Jardines Salvajes

Starring Carlos Portaluppi, Vivi Puerta, Nazareno Casero, and Inés Palombo. Directed by Ricardo Hornos.

Another big hit of 2024 returns to Corrientes Street. A young couple moves to a residential neighborhood and ends up sharing a garden with an older married couple. What begins as a good relationship turns into a full-blown neighborhood war. A hilarious comedy that explores the small, and not so small, differences that divide us, with a totally unexpected ending.

11. Mina, che cosa sei

Starring Elena Roger and Diego Reinhold. Directed by Valeria Ambrosio. Music by Gaby Goldman.

Elena Roger returns to the stage with this tribute to the great Italian singer Mina Mazzini, covering her extensive repertoire: from the 60s to the present, through humor, dramatization, and of course, music.

Mina premiered in 2003, born from the shared interest of Elena Roger and Valeria Ambrosio to create a show that connects them with their ancestors, and twenty years later, they reunite to celebrate the innocence and energy of the beginning of their careers.

12. Paquito (La cabeza contra el suelo)

Starring Maiamar Abrodos, Lucía Aduris Bravo, Matías López Barrios, Nicolás Martin, Paola Medrano, and Sebastián Sonenblum. Directed by Juanse Rauch.
