On a vibrant corner of Palermo, nestled between the greenery of El Rosedal and the energy of the Hippodrome, Checkpoint Charlie has opened its doors. It’s not just a place to eat well, but an experience that connects history, culture, and flavor.

Inspired by the iconic border crossing of the Berlin Wall, this space, which opened in January, carries the name of a symbol of exchange and transformation. Checkpoint Charlie embraces the idea of crossing, of encounters between different worlds, and translates it into a gastronomic concept that celebrates creative freedom and cultural fusion.

The kitchen, led by Executive Chef Edgar Pronio, is based on emblematic dishes from across Europe. It combines European and South American flavors, with dishes that pay homage to tradition—those old wood-fired kitchens where everything began—but with a contemporary twist. Expect slow-cooked creations, homemade sauces, surprising sides, historic desserts, and a menu designed for those who enjoy traveling with their palate.

Checkpoint Charlie: Our Menu Favorites

Among the starters, we recommend the classic British fish & chips, Spanish jamón croquettes, the traditional Russian cold Borscht soup, and the Slovenian Kranjska Klobasa, among others. The standout main dishes include the Cotoletta alla Italiana served with soufflé gnocchi and truffled cheese cream, wood-fired grilled meats such as rib-eye, whole dry-aged skirt steak, and chorizo steak, as well as grilled trout with Lyonnaise potatoes and pesca a la Vizcaína. The desserts also travel through European regions, with highlights like crème brûlée, pavlova with cream and berries, and an unbeatable apfelstrudel.

And, of course, we can't forget about the toast. The entire cocktail menu is inspired by different regions of Europe. Take our advice and try the iconic Checkpoint Tango.

As you can see, Checkpoint Charlie doesn't aim to replicate recipes, but to reinterpret them. The result is a warm, authentic, and original experience, ideal for couples, families, executives, or foodies seeking something different. Each dish is a story, a blend of influences that cross paths just as people, ideas, and dreams did in that reborn Europe after the walls came down.

Located within OLA Palermo, a growing hub combining gastronomy, art, and design, the restaurant sits in one of the city's most vibrant corners. And like everything in Buenos Aires, it is also a tribute to the millions of immigrants who arrived with their culture in hand to build this open, free, and passionate city.

At Checkpoint Charlie, the doors are open for those who believe that diversity doesn’t divide, but enriches. For those who understand that each difference can be a source of inspiration. And for all those who find in a good meal the best place to cross boundaries.
