Casa FOA's 40th edition once again surprises with an innovative approach. This time, it takes place in the iconic Edificio del Plata, located in the heart of Buenos Aires (if you know where the Obelisk is, you’ll know where to find this year’s exhibition).

From October 30 to December 1, 2024, design, art, and architecture enthusiasts, as well as the general public, have the chance to dive into 6,200 square meters filled with trends.

Under the theme “Inside the Box,” the new Casa FOA edition offers a sensory and immersive journey, transforming each space into a true work of art. The concept flips the "Think outside the box" metaphor, inviting us to step inside and be an active part of the space.

The exhibition is organized into 40 unique spaces created by renowned designers and architects, each showcasing the latest trends in architecture and interior design, as well as various art styles. Below, we highlight the top 11 spaces at Casa FOA 2024.

1. Coworking Space

The coworking space, designed by Estudio PQR, offers an inspiring environment that promotes employee well-being and creativity. Based on "sacred geometry," it integrates patterns and proportions from nature, evoking order and harmony in a collaborative setting.

Concepts like the golden ratio and Fibonacci sequence are incorporated into the furniture and layout, creating a natural, harmonious flow between areas.

2. Cafeteria

Undoubtedly one of the standout spaces, “RECREO” — named by its creators at Opuesto Estudio — breaks the typical coffee shop mold and invites us into a playful, social space.

Here, color and light take center stage. Most intriguingly, the floor becomes a game board, where circles act as pieces and the "box" sets the rules. Interacting with the space turns you into a game piece, immersed in an environment where colors shift and evolve. It’s mind-blowing!

3. Living Room

Designed by acclaimed interior designer Rob Ortiz, this living room pays homage to the iconic Banco Hipotecario building, a brutalist masterpiece by Clorindo Testa and Sepra studio.

Inspired by its bold shapes and raw materials, this timeless living room design highlights the essentials, creating a sense of understated elegance, with stone, wood, and sculptural shapes as focal points.

4. Cafeteria Extension

Another space worth visiting: a Mediterranean-inspired lounge, bringing a bit of the California coast to Casa FOA. Architects at Estudio Go and Mike Outdoor Living fused art, architecture, shapes, and natural elements to create a space perfect for relaxation.

Inspired by Pacific waves and sandy dunes, it features curves that dominate the layout, creating lounging areas that seem to blend into the landscape. Pergolas, lounges, a walkway, and cozy corners are distributed among soft "sand dunes" defining the space.

5. Young Adult’s Room

Designed by Agustina Cerato, this eclectic space is styled for an anthropology student living in Mayfair, London. Drawing from her interests in design, fashion, art, and culture, it combines classic English architecture with modern, cosmopolitan touches.

Every corner reflects her passions, featuring sophisticated decor pieces, colors, and textures that connect to her interests. This “sanctuary” is intended not only to represent her essence but also to inspire her daily and provide a space to explore her creativity.

6. Biophilic Space

In this 68-square-meter area, nature and art take center stage. Inspired by biophilia and the “Inside the Box” concept, architect Ana María Luján Rodríguez designed a refuge inviting well-being and calm.

The space combines natural wood, organic fibers, and various plant types. Divided into two areas, the living area features natural light and glasswork by artist Ana Manghi, while a meeting area with armchairs, a bar, and a kitchen promotes connection and enjoyment. Natural tones and warm textures, along with works by Federico Telerman, Josefina Concha, and Mariana Brea, complete this inspiring space.

7. Mindful Path

Created by artist Mónica Casella for Universidad de Belgrano, this is one of Casa FOA 2024’s most visual and sensory experiences, inviting reflection on the impact of our actions on the planet through art and design.

3,000 recycled cardboard cores form an interactive path where visitors are encouraged to think about the footprint they want to leave in the world.

9. Flexible Apartment

Architects Laura Del Piccolo and Natalia Geci, in collaboration with BCH Arquitectura, bring us a flexible apartment redefining how we live and work “within the same box.” With the innovative DUM (multipurpose apartment) concept, this space transforms from an open studio to a complete apartment in minutes through strategically placed wooden boxes, each containing specific furniture or functions — a desk, kitchen, bedroom, and even a hidden pool.

Everything is designed to unfold and store easily, adapting to different needs and offering a modern, economical, and customizable lifestyle, where each box is a tool for transformation and creativity.

10. Studio Apartment

The Concepto Muebles studio apartment is a fresh, dynamic proposal that turns the space into a multifunctional experience. Inspired by deconstruction, it divides into three main areas: a relaxation and work corner to the left, an integrated kitchen/dining/living area to the right, and a sculptural interior patio that acts as a divider.

With an emphasis on exposed concrete, the space is warm and welcoming, moving away from the rigidity of typical lofts.

The entrance hall, “Inside the Box” by Mauer Studio, is a visual and sensory experience that reimagines a historic space. It not only welcomes visitors to Casa FOA but also pays homage to the Edificio del Plata.

In this area, nature and architecture merge, creating a unique, dynamic gathering point — a perfect spot to start or end your visit to the exhibition. A must-see on your Casa FOA tour!
