One could say that fries are one of the most humble yet beloved dishes in global gastronomy: they’re perfect for snacking as a starter, essential for pairing with other dishes, and special for any occasion.

They are a classic that never fails: loved by both adults and children, eaten in winter and summer, and also a go-to when gatherings are large. That’s why we’re recommending 5 places where you can order them—and they’ll be served crispy and golden.

Also, take the opportunity to pair them with their perfect match: a cold pale lager. We recommend our favorite: an Imperial Golden or Imperial Extra Lager.

1. Pompeya Club Social - Buenos Aires Province

Pompeya Club Social is a relaxed spot, ideal for an after-work with friends or colleagues. There’s usually live music on Thursdays and DJs on weekends. The menu offers everything from hamburgers in various styles to schnitzels and pizzas. There’s also a tapas section where complete fries—with cheddar, bacon, and spring onions—are one of the most popular choices. We recommend pairing them with an Imperial Extra Lager, which has a fresh and intense flavor to balance. The place has large tables, board games, and veggie options for all tastes.

Tip: They also offer classic fries that come out super crispy. The burgers come with a side of fries.

Where: Pompeya 2413, Castelar.

2. Dadá Mini - Córdoba City

Dadá Mini is a classic in one of Córdoba’s most gastronomic neighborhoods: Güemes. It has an unstructured vibe with outdoor tables, live music on weekends, and a comprehensive menu that goes from tempting desserts to “sandwichazos”—a section dedicated to sandwich options mostly accompanied by fries.

For snacks, you can choose between two options: classic fries or those with cheddar and spring onions. If you go on a weekend afternoon, we recommend trying some of their grilled sandwiches, which also come with a side. To accompany, an Imperial Roja is definitely the best choice.

Tip: After eating, take a stroll through the area and explore the different galleries, art spaces, and the Artisan Fair, which is usually held on weekends just a block from the bar.

Where: Achával Rodríguez 250, Güemes neighborhood, Córdoba Capital.

3. Joe’s Grill - Buenos Aires Province

Joe’s Grill is an ideal restaurant to visit with family because it has a vast menu for all tastes and a huge space with a ball pit, foosball, and video game consoles to keep the little ones entertained. It also has an outdoor terrace perfect for enjoying the season. Most dishes (schnitzels, burgers, mains) can be paired with fries. The Joe’s Basket is a kind of platter that serves up to 3 people and includes fries, which you can pair with a chilled Imperial Golden.

Tip: They have a variety of kids’ menu options, ranging from pasta to burgers, and it includes dessert, a drink, and a toy.

Where: Av. Fondo de la Legua 340, San Isidro, Buenos Aires Province.

4. Bodegón del Sur - Córdoba

In a classic bodegón, fries are the true stars of the menu. Upon a quick glance, the word “papa” (potato) appears 32 times in the menu. The schnitzels come with this side, as do the rib-eye steaks and the classic complete Córdoba-style tenderloin.

However, upon closer inspection, there’s one dish you might not find at other bodegones: the Gramajo schnitzel (or supreme). It comes with creamy cheese, sautéed onions, buttered peas, cooked ham, scrambled eggs, and is served with paille fries. If you're going to have it, make sure to get the complete version and pair it with an Imperial Roja or Golden.

Tip: In addition to classic fries, Bodegón del Sur offers an irresistible option: classic crinkle-cut fries, perfect for those who prefer a crispy bite.

Where: Bernardo O'Higgins 357, Jardín neighborhood, Córdoba Capital.

5. Dogg House - Buenos Aires City

Dogg House specializes in hot dogs and New York-style hamburgers. The sausages are made in-house, as are the buns, which play a starring role in each dish on the menu. Fries, an essential companion to this type of food, are featured throughout the menu. We recommend trying the Dogg fries, which come with cream cheese, cheddar, chili, guacamole, and bacon, and pairing them with an Imperial IPA to balance the flavors and refresh the palate.

Tip: The sausages in each hot dog at Dogg House are grilled and made with different types of meat and natural seasonings.

Where: Blanco Encalada 1661, Belgrano, Buenos Aires City.
